We just
moved to the quiet country town of Elmer and wondered if we were going
to have to travel 30 minutes for a good Italian restaurant. Boy were we
surprised to discover that nestled within the 1 square mile limits of
Elmer, right off Route 40, was a terrific Italian restaurant and
pizzeria called Papa Luigi’s. After one visit (and trust me we’ve been
back many times since), we right away knew that Louie and his staff make
some of the best pizzas and pizza specialties in South Jersey. Eating
their hot and cold subs is like going directly to the Italian Market in
South Philly. Their entrées are equally enjoyable. We started off
with their homemade calamari and fresh warm garlic bread, followed by a
cold, crisp salad for me and a delicious homemade soup of the day for my
husband. We tried their tender Veal Marsala served with a side of pasta
with Louis’s own Vodka sauce - yummy. When the time comes to settle the
bill, you would expect it to be higher, but in actuality you are
receiving high quality food for a reasonable family price. So come in
and meet Louie and his pleasant and attentive staff, where no more will
you have to pay for parking, tolls or high prices for a great Italian
dinner with the family. South Philly has come to South Jersey at Papa
Lugi’s in Elmer.
